---Wk1 journal - Everyday Design

Week 1

 1. Coat hangers are very useful in our daily life, we use them to store our clothes neat and we could use them to hang clothes out side after we have finished washing clothes.

The Resourcefulness of Everyday Design

2. However, when the clothes are hung outside gaining some sunshine, usually a gust of wind might come by and blow the coat hangers off the string it was hung and can get dirty when it falls on the floor.

3. There is a very simple way to prevent this happen, all we need is just some rubber bands and thats it.

4. What you need to do is just simply put the hook of the coat hanger through the rubber band and pull it until it is attached to the front of the hook, this way the clothes that are hung outside are safe from falling on the floor when wind comes.

Identify a problem from your own life and ideate a solution.

Have you ever have this problem? When ever you are cutting up vegetables for dinner, you can't seperate what you need and what you don't need clearly? By the time you get rid of what you don't need, you usually also ending letting some of the vegetables that you need sliding into the garbage bin.

Soulutions

1. With a hole on the Cutting board and a trash bin under it, you are able to seperate what you need and get rid of the left overs without pouring what you need in to the trash bin accidentaly.

2. This cutting board allows us to seperate different parts of the board to classify what we want and what we don't want. You can simpily move the left overs to one piece of the board and detach it to remove the waste in to the trash bin.

3. With a small box attached to the cutting board, you are able to push the left overs directly to the box. You can simply detach the box to empty the left overs.

4. This cutting board is much larger and is able to contain much more left overs than the ones above. You won't need to empty it plenty times when cutting vegetables. There is a long metal drawer under the hole, simply pull it out and clean it. However, this cut board is much bigger and thicker, so it might be a squeeze if your kitchen isn't large enough. Its best to have a concave area to insert the cutting board in, which also saves alot of space.
